You know you need content… but what type of content should you create?
Sure, you can put up a blog post or few, but what other types of content would serve your readers? Should you spend time on slide presentations? Infographics? How about videos? And which types of content would engage your audience best?
No easy decision here and it can also depend on the manpower and resources available.
Ideas to Help You Decide
Focus on educational content. You can’t go wrong with content that informs and educates your prospect. What do your customers want or need to know? What questions are they asking? Create a list and plan to answer them with your content.
Offer different formats for reader preferences. How do your readers prefer to consume content? I’d rather read than watch a video, but you may feel differently. Think of the different learning styles: visual, auditory, kinesthetic and a mixture of these. Examples include:
- Visual learning – photos, videos, infographics, slide presentations
- Auditory learning – podcasts, webinars, audio books
- Kinesthetic learning – videos, games, quizzes, surveys, interactive pieces
Offer a mix of formats. You can even do this with one topic or subject. Write a longer blog post with more depth, for example. From that material, you can create an audio recording of key points or use those key facts for an infographic or slide presentation, then build a quiz with top questions.
It may take some testing, but over time you’ll notice which content types rev up your audience the most.
Align your resources for content creation. You can’t do it all, but a wealth of online resources and professionals are a click away. Don’t hesitate to reach out to freelance content writers (hi!), graphic designers, video pros and more. They can create your content in less time and help you get a better return on investment.
